What is African cardamom extract?
African cardamom (scientific name: Aframomum melegueta) is a perennial herbaceous plant in the ginger family, native to the coastal swamps of western Africa and primarily distributed in Angola, Sierra Leone, and Sudan. Its fruit, which contains reddish-brown seeds, has a pungent, pepper-like flavor and is often used as a condiment or substitute.
Aframomum melegueta extract is extracted from the seeds or fruit of this plant. It primarily contains 6-gingerol compounds (such as 6-paradol and 6-gingerol), which have metabolic regulating and anti-inflammatory properties.
