What is Berberine hydrochloride?
Berberine hydrochloride is an organic compound with the chemical formula C20H18ClNO4. It is a yellow crystalline powder, easily soluble in boiling water, slightly soluble in cold water, and almost insoluble in cold ethanol, chloroform. It is mainly used as an antibacterial drug, and has inhibitory effects on Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli, Pneumococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Salmonella typhi and amoeba.
